Eating With C

We took D out tonight to celebrate his B-day, I know just a week late. He chose Outback. Big Daddy who is doing very well at loosing weight ordered salmon and veggies. Then as D and W complained of getting full, Big Daddy would offer to help them out by eating something from their plate. So here they were sharing steak, shrimp and loaded baked potatoe. C observed all this.

C: Dad you really need to loose weight.

Big Daddy: C you need to watch what's coming out of that mouth!!

C: I know that's right!

Yes, I laughed out loud!

Laugh For Friday!

One of my best friends sent this to me. It is just to good to keep to myself, enjoy and Happy Friday!! And oh yeah, Thanks Tracy and same back at ya!!

True Friendship -- None of that Sissy stuff.

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good,

But never actually come close to reality?

Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.

You will see no cute little smiley faces on this card -- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry barstard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are thinking of something that I would probably want to be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag you about it every chance I get until you're NOT.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will try to use only little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will laugh at your clumsy ass, but I'll help you up.

9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask;

because you are my friend.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

"Trim The Fat" Thursday

OK as stressful as VBS is for me, it's done wonders with my weight!!! But considering I'm not eating much and rocking it out every night, I can see why. I lost 3lbs this week, WooHoo!! Now the key is to keep this up when VBS is over! I have 5 weeks until the wedding and 7 more pounds to lose.

Goals for next week: Pilate's workout 3 or 4 days.
Start keeping a pitcher of water in the fridge, once again.... I find it a lot easier to drink water if I have a pitcher of cold water and lemon juice to add to it...I have never liked the taste of water but with a squirt of lemon, I have no problem drinking it....but don't put a lemon in my sweet tea please!!

Ok check back next Thursday for another update of TTFT!!

Request For Help Please!

During VBS tonight, my friend Tracy came to tell me she had just found out our pastor has Parkinson's Disease. Our pastor is around 60 and he and his wife are raising their 4 yr old granddaughter. These are 2 of the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. They are just good people. They live simply, no cable or computer, and I'm just afraid they will not be able to get the info they need to deal with this. The internet has become such an integral part of life as we know it, that anytime one of the kids or hubby or I get a diagnosis, it is one of the tools I use to glean info. My computer was down the first few days of my shingles so I did not get all the information I needed to be fully informed at the time I was diagnosed as to what to expect, I thought I would be ok in a few days, didn't know it would take weeks. If any of you know a good site I can reference and especially request info to be sent to me, I would love to be able to help them at least with this. And if any of you have dealt with this before, I would appreciate some insite as well. Like I said, they are such good people and we want to help them as much as possible. Thanks!

June 21st

Happy Fathers Day to Big Daddy,! It's a special one at our house. See what we have to look forward to??

Our oldest, D, turns 15 tomorrow. Now Big Daddy looks old enough to have a 15yr old but I am quite positive I do not!!! But when I see the above picture, I know my wrinkles are just around the corner. I have been letting D drive my van around the church parking lot for practice since he is itching to get his learners permit. And before you ask, yes I make sure the parking lot is empty first. I taught my BFF's 2 oldest kids to drive of which I am grateful, it is making it easier to deal with mine. I love having him drive the van. Cause we all know how cool 15yr olds look driving Mom's mini-van, LOL!!!! He'll look cooler at 16 I'm sure when he can drive it without me........ man I still can't believe it's been 15 yrs that I've been a Mom....you would think I would be better at it by now!!!!

Happy Birthday D..... Love Ya...... Or I wouldn't be letting ya drive my van!!!!!

Tagged and Yep, Trim The Fat Thursday, And WV!

My friend Sandy from The Adams Family tagged me today. I am to go to my first picture file and post number 10. Now I love these tags...well any tag that has anything to do with pictures is good for me!
This one is quite appropriate! This was on D's first summer choir tour and since he just got back from his 6th tour it's fun to look back at the 1st. And I don't know who had my camera cause that is D in the front seat!! This is just outside of Atlanta. And boy....look at all the fun they're having on that bus, LOL!! Feel free to do this one yourself!!

Ok now on to my favorite subject, my weight! I did not work out once this past week so yes, the DVD is still safely in it's plastic wrapper! Now I have been up and out, as in outside, more then normal. Which is good except my face burns off each time I do it! And now for the big number....... 170, yes down another pound and I have no idea how I did it!!!!!

One more thing and this is really random. I always pay attention to word verification when I leave comments. Now I don't even know if I use word verification so somebody tell me. But I do this little thing of seeing if the WV I get makes word. Now I have come across a few and one or two were pretty good but yesterday I came across my all time favorite....HOMAKE....yeah, so does that mean I am a HO-make or I make-HO!!!! I just LOVE the possibilities.....I know, I'm whacked!

Meet The Other Kids

I've had animals in my life since I was 2 yrs old and I got my first Siamese cat, Penny. Needless to say, my children have inherited that love of animals. But then they also have been raised with many companions so it was kind of a given. You've seen a lot of the dogs. They interact all the time with the kids so it's easy to get pictures of them...just follow the kids around! And so here is another photo of Lulu..C's Best friend!
This is Cassie. She is a Balinese I rescued along with her sister Cate. I don't know what she was looking at. C has officially declared Cassie HIS cat!
This is Cate, Cassie's twin. She is amazing with The Girl. Lets her carry her draped over her arms. And Girl takes her everywhere!! Cate is HER cat!
This is Sammie. She is a torte Siamese I adopted from a rescue group 10 yrs ago. I love this cat and this cat loves me! My hubby does NOT love this cat and she does NOT love him!! She is not a lap cat and she is only just now coming around to letting others touch her. Before now, it's only been me.
Cate and Cassie, bonding.
And of course Annabelle in her crate. Girl has now declared Anna to be her dog, yeah right! I love those ears!! She is afraid of the cats until she gets in her crate....then she's all dog vs cat!!
I still find it so hard to know that she spent the first 6 months of her life out on the streets! So glad the Tn Rescue Group were able to get her and her brother.

Lizzy, W's dog, part Golden Retreiver part chow we think. She is big, goofy and will follow those kids to the end of the earth!! This is the only one we've not gotten from rescue or the humane society. We got her from a friend when I was expecting Girl. Maybe that's why she's so kid attached....
And of course Oliver! I adopted him from the humane society 12 yrs ago. He is the only male and is totally alpha. I call it small dog syndrome!! He is D's although as he gets older, he comes to me for just about everything...including tucking into bed at night... yea, my bed! It is cute when I wake up in the morning and he's on Big Daddys pillow!! But I don't think Big Daddy see's the humor in that, LOL!!

So there is the intro to the other kids. The cats are a little off balance, we only have 3. My 18 yr old tabby died last month....I'm ready to get my numbers even again.......hmmmm is Big Daddy??

Teacher

Until I had D 14 yrs ago I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up. So at 34 I finally had figured it out, a MOM. Being a mom has been so much more then I had ever expected. And now with the 4 kids, varying age groups, different activities, different stages in life for them and me, I have narrowed my mom-ing down to what I feel I do best for them, with them, with other kids and with myself... I teach. Not only do I home school my kids, I also teach the youth Sunday School class and the youth Wednesday night class...some kids are in both, some just one or the other. Now teaching my own kids is much more of a challenge just due to family dynamics, we still have the same parent/child conflicts everyone else does. It's a lot of work with the 3 levels and not a lot of rewards usually. But then the times when something you've been working on with a child just clicks and their delight is priceless.. they GET it! It is amazing to see. Then you have the teenager who "forgets" what he is supposed to do...oh yeah, that goes over real well with me! Needless to say, my oldest and I but, or butt, heads alot!! And one of my greatest pleasures is teaching our church youth group. This comes to me so easily. I can get my book out, look for 5 mins and have planned exactly what I want to do. It just invigorates me. I feel that all of us have Spiritual Gifts that God has given us. Took me a LONG time to find mine, but I have, a mom who teaches. Have you discovered yours yet??

Not Happy

Normally I try to keep my blog upbeat, fun and cute. Because that is basically the way I try to be...except for the cute, I'm so past that. And no, do not ask my kids cause they'll tell ya how mean and hateful I am and how great their dad is, they're right he is...most of the time. And right now I could really care less about their opinion, I've heard enough of them!! But I just need to get it all out. Ya know I have shingles, if ya don't, start here and the come back. Now it has been over 2 weeks since this crap started in my ear. The lovely blisters have dried up and I only have a few scabs left, that makes me puke just writing it. Yes I am vain, I do not like having something on my face my makeup can't cover up!! But the worst part... the pain! It starts in my inner ear, runs my jaw line and ends with my teeth... upper and lower on my left side. I.can't.stand.it........ I have taken all the meds I can find...nothing makes it go away!!!! The most I can hope for is taking the edge off. I could burst into tears right now it hurts so bad, I'm just waiting for the extra meds to kick in so I can go to bed, one of them has a sleep thingy in it!!! The worst part... don't know when it will end....and for some lucky people, it doesn't. OK now it's out there and I didn't even cuss! And yes, I feeling guilty complaining, when I know there are so many people in much worse situations then I am in. But tonight, I just needed to vent. Back to happy go lucky tomorrow.

Hometown Swap Goodies

I participated in Shannon's Hometown Swap. And I must say, I loved it!!! Hint Hint, Shannon this one is a keeper, might need to do it again!! When we signed up we told Shannon a part of the country that we had never been to but were interested in. Then she paired us up with a participant from that area. My partner in crime was Tricia from 5 Little Monkeys. That girl knows how to swap!! Now remember, since Mr. Computer is being ugly I can't download any pics from my camera so use your imagination for now, and then when the AH computer gets fixed, I'll have LOTS to show ya. Now Tricia and her family are from Idaho. She sent me Huckleberry flavored Popcorn, OMG half the bag was gone in half an hour!! Dakota Buckaroo Marinating Sauce which I can't wait to try when the grill master gets home on Wednesday. A cute frig magnate that the Girl immediately confiscated. A snow globe that has a truck that moves around the countryside and we collect snow globes! Idaho Spud Candy Bar..... so good and cute just like every spud should be. A cute Collector Spoon, it's a tiny spoon with a potato at the top of it, C claimed it to eat with! Postcards of different area in Idaho. Hand knit Mary Jane slippers that are awesome... Tricia had a giveaway with these MJ slippers and I had entered so she already knew what colors and size I liked!! Now the Girl did take these and wear them first, then I stole them back! And for my midnight pleasure... Farrs candies, a Huckleberry Cordial and a Cherry Cordial!!! Thank you so much Tricia for your FABULOUS box of goodies!! And take a trip to her blog, click her 5 Little Monkeys button on my sidebar and visit this fun lady!

Chick Tale

D is on tour right now so we're down to 3 kids. I'm always kind of on a low burn pins and needles when any of the kids are away. This is the first summer in 7 yrs that W has not played all-star baseball, there is not a team for his age. He is enjoying his summer off actually, gardening and trying to talk his dad and I into getting chickens. I'm assuming the boys just want to watch the dogs run around more, cause that is exactly what would happen until one of them caught a chicken, and then I wouldn't want to be at home in that case. When I was growing up my brother had a dachshund named Johnny. And for some reason the cub scouts got baby chicks at Easter. We lived in the city, Athens Ga. My father built a mini-coup, chicken coup not car, for Bobby the chicken. One day my brother got Bobby out and was walking him around the front yard. Johnny saw this and hit the front door so hard it popped open. Yeah you got it, Dog Vs Chicken...... Dog won. It was not pretty. I do not want a repeat. C's dog Lulu is the most mild mannered, docile, lazy dog I've ever known....until the rabbit got into the back yard..... I didn't look... Lulu won.... No Chick Repeats Around Here W....!!!

Trim The Fat Thursday

2 weeks ago an IRL friend Angie from Angie's Spot started her weight loss quest. Now I told her that I would join her on this. My nephew is getting married Aug. 1 down in Ga. and I would love to be 15 lbs lighter. I have seen no one from my family since C was 18 mos old, he is 7. No one has seen our daughter. I wish I did not feel that I have something to prove but when it comes to my family, that's the way it is. My mother "disowned" me almost 6 yrs ago and died the year after that. My father also chose to basically act like I did not exist, I'm a big girl I can handle that, but they also chose to ignore my children. My mother died before the Girl was born and my father has never acknowledged her. The kids used to get a Christmas card from him, but not lately. I have 1 brother and 1 nephew and a sister-in-law who I have always been close to(my SIL, not my brother). They had one more son who died when he was 4 from complications from chicken pox. My SIL and I talk a few times a year and have always kept up. She is from Vermont and I have had the pleasure of staying with her family up there on vacation, yes prior to BD and the kids. Her Mom and her 2 brothers and 2 sisters are coming down for the wedding and I am so excited to see them!!! My nephew just graduated from UGA and will start med school at Mercer in Macon on Aug 10th, yeah right after the honeymoon! Makes me thankful I'll 16yrs into my marriage and not starting out! Now how I got off on this tangent I do not know but, I want to lose weight. I was going to post about this LAST Thursday but the shingles got their grip on me instead! So to start off my "Trim The Fat" program I weigh, and I know this to be a fact since I've seen so many docs lately, 172 lbs which doesn't look great on a 5ft 2in frame. I want to lose 15 by Aug 1 and will do this by continuing to cook and eat right. Luckily Big Daddy is also still on his weight reduction quest so the cooking lighter has already bee n implemented. In fact I weighed 180 in Jan. And once my pain is reduced to a manageable level, I do plan to take my "10 min Solution Pilates" DVD out of the wrapper. Then I plan to put it in the DVD player soon after!! I'm hoping for 2 lbs off by next Thursday. My long term goal is to get down to 140. I'm comfortable with myself at that weight and I can wear a size 10 then! I'm really going to try for that by November 12th!! And I must pass this along, I read an article a couple of months ago that when you turn 50, if you are heavier you start to look younger then your age and people who are thinner tend to look older. Have I said how excited I am to be turning 50 next year, LOL!!! I guess I've bored y'all enough, on with the day!! Have a great one!

OK, What's Up!

Our computer is trying to crash on us. I am running it in safe mode until we can get a computer doc in here. Problem being, I can't do all that I want because of that. So instead of lovely pictures of the SHINGLES all over the left side of my face, you'll just have to imagine!

Try to picture the worst case of poison ivy combined with sun poisoning, big blisters oozing nastiness and paste them in your mind on the left side of my face, in my ear and in my mouth. Oh yeah, are you getting the picture?? They started in my ear weekend before last, traveled down my jaw line to my teeth. And that was just the pain. The breakout started last Tuesday. I went to the doc and got prednisone and Valtrex my new buddy. The valtrex kept it from going hog wild on my face. Now as bad as I looked and I could have been in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video without makeup, the pain was excruciating. I've broken my femur, had 2 kids natural, sprain my ankle twice bad enough the docs thought it was broken, acute appendicitis, but nothing compares to this. By this past weekend, I did not know if me or the pain was going to win. I was taking 2 percocets every 4 hours just to sleep, the pain never left. And I finally understood how people overdose on perscription meds. I was just desperate for it to stop. I do not remember being so scared at any other time like that.

Big Daddy took care of the kids the whole weekend meaning he kept them out of the house and out of my bedroom. I must have been bad cause he didn't do that when I got home from the hospital! I went back to the doc on Monday and went to the ENT that afternoon. Luckily he doesn't feel there will be permanent hearing loss. He vacuumed out my ear and then tested to see how much hearing I had. I am on a different pain med that so far has not impressed me.

My blisters are healing and now I have black scabs instead. I still will not go out of my house unless it is to the Doc or pharmacy. And don't worry, after computer is fixed, I plan to have a "Gross Out" Friday Foto Finish just for FUN!!
