Once Again, It's C in Friday Foto Finish!!

We go to a small church. I teach the youth group for our Wednesday night program and 2 of my good friends teach the elementary group. Well even though the Girl is only 3, she does well enough to go to the elementary class with her brother, C. She LOVES church, everything about it, she cries when she has to leave on Sundays. And she LOVES her class on Wednesday. Well last night after the classes were over, I was standing around talking to the other teachers. Of course, C and the Girl made their night. Seems that the Girl got a hold of something very sharp. Now C realizing what was going on, promptly told one of the teachers that Girl did not need to have it, that it was sharp and would cut her. So the teacher asked the Girl to bring it to her, which she did. The teacher was so proud of C for recognizing the danger his sister was in so she told him "C, you are such a good big brother". To which C replied in a huff "My mom makes me"! Oh such brotherly love brings tears to my eyes, LOL!!!!

Homework Song

D and I were arguing, as usual, over his writing class homework today. I was trying to help, yes he asked me to, and he was looking away not paying attention, etc. He just kept saying "I cant' do it" or "I don't know what you mean". Girl was in the living room with us and when I finally paid attention to what she was saying, I discovered she was singing encouragement to her brother. Does anyone else listen to "Yo-Gabba-Gabba" on Nick Jr?? One of their songs is what Girl was singing, remember this is her version:

Table Talk

We have been trying to teach the Girl how to say the blessing before dinner each night. Wednesday at lunch, she decided W needed to sit by her. Now because of our differing schooling schedules, lunch is unorganized, grab what you can when you can, chaos. But W dutifully sat beside her while she had her lunch. He gently proded her by asking what she needed to say before she started eating. Her response "Dig In!" Hmm.... we might want to work on this a little more!

Think Thin Thursday

OK remember my goal for this week was to workout on Wii FIT for 30 mins a day, 5 days. Well I know you won't believe this but..... the disc stopped working.......my Wii FIT is broken....it won't answer my call. And I promise, I did NOT do this!!! So unfortunately, I didn't make my goal but hope the rest of you did. I guess I'll have to break out the old treadmill until I can get my FIT replaced!!! I do not like the treadmill, I want my Wii FIT!!! Waa-waa-waa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why Wednesday?

OK this is a general question. I've looked and read and can't find a logical answer. The price of gas here is going up, why? I read yesterday, oil is below $38 a barrel again, but gas is up, hello??? Now I'm not saying it's anywhere near what it was this summer, but it is up about $.20 from last month. Why??
And one last thing, I read in the paper last month of how one of the oil cartel members felt that oil should be trading at $75 a barrel. Now he made this comment when oil had slid to $45 a barrel. Where were his comments when it was trading at $140 a barrel??? Oh yeah, feel real sorry for ya now, waaa-waaa!!!

D's Back!

He did have fun but I'm so glad he's home. We stayed up until 1 this morning talking. Good thing I let him sleep in today! Thanks to every one of you who sweated this trip out with me!! HUGS!!

Tomorrow

Thanks Ladies for all your encouraging words about D being gone. It's really been a tough couple of days. I have not slept and had an almost panic attack! Now this is the 6th tour he's been on, I'm not a newbie to this. It helped when I talked to another choir mom tonight, she said she has been having the same reaction this time. We decided it's because this is there first winter tour. Usually they tour only during the summer months. All I know is that I'll be glad when Sunday at 9:30pm rolls around! And oh yeah, this is one of those awesome opportunities for him. He had to come up through the ranks of the training choirs for 2 years until he got promoted up to the Concert choir which is the travel choir. We knew the choir would be able to take him places and give him opportunities to travel and meet people that he would never have otherwise. Traveling is handled very professionally. The whole music staff goes and only 1 or 2 parents and then they have to be in the medical field. So, they always have a nurse or doctor traveling with them. He has been all over the southeast, the southwest, and Ireland. He has sung for Governors and Senators. He has performed in Cathedrals here and abroad and even at Fort Sumter. His choir has been taped for an upcoming PBS program. One of the highlights for me as a parent was last summer when they recorded "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" with Casting Crowns for their Christmas CD that came out this past Oct. If I knew how to download from YouTube, I would have done it for you all to hear. To know that he is on a CD that will last through the ages, on a song with so much meaning and sooooo much beauty, just touches my heart. It took a month before I could listen to it without crying. I guess you can tell how proud I am of him. And his father is proud beyond measure for his accomplishments with the choir. Big Daddy has put in alot of time helping with the activities of the choir and has loved it. Big Daddy doesn't sing, but his oldest does, and BD so enjoys it. I do sing, so I always take full credit for D's talent, LOL!! Thanks for listening to the rambling, as I said before, I'll be glad for tomorrow!

My oldest D, is on tour in Florida right now with his choir. It's always hard on me when he is touring, I worry! Here is a picture from when they were on tour in Ireland summer of 07. It was bad, but not near as bad as the 11 day tour they were on last summer, WAAAAAY TOOOO LOOONG!!

OK we're making a fresh new start and forgetting this past week. I blogged one of my fellow TTT's that PMS wrecked havoc with me this week. So goal for next week: 30 mins Wii FIT, 5 days, ok I know, I know, but I really like FUN exercise! Wish me luck and join in anyone else that wants to!! WHY WEDNESDAY???

It's that time again, Why Wednesday, so here goes. I have 4 kids. 2 are 14 and 12. 2 are 6 and 3. I have a very capable and involved husband. So why is it that I can be gone for hours but when I get home, the little kids are all over me asking me for this and that and everything that any of the older brothers or their father could have just as easily done for them?? They (ok it's actually C doing the talking here) swear they ask for help but NO ONE will listen!! So Why am I the only one capable of taking care of the little kids around here??

Goal 2009

I must say I do not do resolutions. Been there, done that. But, I've been so into this new year so far that I've decided to set a goal. I have just been excited to see 2009. Lots of anticipation but I have no idea why??? But I do know a way that I would like to change and why! I need a new attitude. My goal for 2009 is to loosen up! I get so wrapped up in what should be, I don't enjoy what is. I am literally going to force myself to stop, breathe and take a step back on those occasions when I can feel my blood pressure sky-rocket and the flames are coming out of my ears!! And yes, the kids and/or Big Daddy are usually involved. I seem to hold it together better when it is not them! So now, my goal is to hold it together when it is them. Cause basically, in the whole scheme of things, what sets me off sometimes just isn't all that! Now, don't get me wrong there are times when it's warranted, but I'm talking about the times when exploding is NOT the way to react!! So I'm gonna learn to chill! And I have a feeling the relationships that mean the most to me, will be better for it!

That's the biggie, the other is a family goal. Big Daddy has been told for 2 years to lose weight and he keeps piling it on. Well now his health is affected so it's time and he is willing to do it!! I need to get in better shape also and would like to lose a few! So our family goal is to get healthy! I'm joining in Think Thin Thursday as a support for this goal! Check it out!

The highlight of my day was getting a new calender at Barnes and Noble, it has all sorts of donkeys on it and is titled "Jackasses". Hmmm... can ya tell my mood!!
