Big Day

Happy 16th Anniversary Big Daddy!!

I had to drag myself out of the bathroom I was so sick to my stomach from being scared. You had to drag me out of the car when we got to the courthouse. We filled out the paperwork and then went with the courthouse minister to the marble steps for the ceremony. I really loosened up at the point and You got way to serious. Our minister had to turn around and tell the people at the bottom of the steps to hush that he was trying to marry some folks. Oh yeah, had a hard time holding it together after that! Left and went to get my drivers license changed and then to lunch. Boy were we 2 crazy kids, LOL!! Sixteen years, Four kids later and it still makes me laugh to think about it!! Wouldn't change a thing!

From The Oven.........................Acorns????

I was on the phone one afternoon last week with my friend A. I was in the living room talking with her, laughing, having a good ol' time. I walked into my kitchen to warm up my coffee. I notice all 3 boys in there and D had his hand on the oven door. He looked at me waved and grinned. I walked past them to the coffee pot, turned around and saw D with my oven mitt on closing the oven door. Now, I'm a true multi-tasker who can drink her coffee, carry on a phone conversation AND figure out what the kids are into. Seems like my oldest hasn't caught onto that fact yet. I opened the oven door, looked in and on a big pan were .... acorns.....leaves....dirt.... in.my.oven! I explained to A what was going on so she could listen to the conversation I was going to have with D, yes she was ROFL. I asked "What are those?" D " Acorns" me "Why" D "To feed the deer", I stopped there cause A was whooping in my ear and I really was trying to hold it together. So I took a breath and continued but you must know this, we live in a subdivision, no deer. Me "I don't believe I've seen any deer around here lately" D "It's for Granny's" (she also lives in a subdivision) Me "I don't believe there are deer at your grandmothers" D "There could be if they smell these acorns" Me, dumbfounded at this point, " Ok but I don't think so" D "She's got some woods, there could be." At this point I just gave in on the deer point, Me "Why are they in the oven?" D"We're drying them out, they were wet. Do we have any more salt?" Me "I'm not sure the deer will like salted acorns" ALL the boys "yes they will, you can buy salt blocks for them at Sportsman Warehouse" Me "It's in the pantry" D "Never mind. I'll just use molasses, they'll like it better" I thought A was splitting a gut on the other end. I just took my coffee and myself back to the living room realizing there was just no reasoning at this point. A was still on the floor. Big Daddy got home and found the gallon size bag of toasted, roasted, and molassesed acorns on the coffee table in the living room. He held it up and very puzzled asked "What's this" D told him. He looked at me and I said "It's for the deer" BD "Where" Me "At your mom's" BD " Well, ok". Alright, was I the only one in the house who does not understand toasting nasty dirty acorns for the deer that are nowhere to be found.... Hello...... Where am I again...... Oh that's right..... BoyLand!!

Happy Birthday to The Girl

Happy Birthday Girl!! It seems like you've been here forever, or at least as long as your brothers. I remember when your oldest brother was born. How your Daddy was so in awe and completely taken away by him. The bond between them was tangible. I wondered why I didn't have the same bond with him that your father seemed to, mine was different. I was the Mama. And with all of your other brothers, once again, I could see that bond and try to find it but never quite get there. Your brothers are bonded to me differently. I'm their Mama, they adore me, and pick on me, and think I'm funny, and think I'm nuts most of the time, but I just don't seem to "get" them like your Daddy does. Then, you came along. From the moment I first held you, and yes I was scared to death of having a girl I was so boy oriented, I "got" you. I finally understood what your Daddy had been showing me with the boys. I understood you and I knew you from that very first look. Of course my first words were "She looks exactly like the boys" but I knew you in a way I never knew the boys. You are such a treasure to me. And we have that bond that Daddy and the boys have. He and they don't "get" you, but that's ok cause your mama does. Your Daddy and your brothers absolutely adore you, unless C is in the mood to sell you to the Chinese when you two are fighting. But, oh what joy you are to me. I know things will be rough at times and your boys will drive you crazy, but none of us can even begin to imagine what it would be like without you. And even though I was pretty up there in age when you were born, I cherish you more because of that! So baby girl, oh excuse me.... small girl, I am so happy for these past 3 years and can't wait for the many more we'll have together. Cause you see, God truly blessed me when he sent you to my arms! He knew how much I needed you! Happy Birthday my Girl!!

Christmas Views............Jungle Style

Why would the Girl be scared of this????
Show Off!
One of our neighbors made this for us. The wife was sick so he thought this up, put it together, and brought it to us! Love it
Hello, where is the icing supposed to go??
Yes, they were good!
Discovered the Girl is totally different in her decorating style from her brothers, they can't get enough icing on the cookies and the little minimalist puts a drop! Not her mothers child, I say load em up!!
Gosh, did Santa cover the gifts so there would be no 2:00 am peaking???
Just what you want to see and hear at 5:00 in the morning!
And we're putting all this stuff where??
Uh oh, looks like someone needs to go back to bed!! Do I see a scowl on Christmas??
Man, did Mrs. Claus work late last night...uh, this morning!
OK, normally she does not sleep in her food, we do have a bed! Now, if they will all go to sleep and I can get to bed! Bless Coffee!! Hope you enjoyed the little view of the Jungle!

Christmas Eve and.................Finished!

OK pretend you do not see the laundry baskets that I did not move! A little of the living room decor!
Welcome to the piano decorations, my contribution this year!

These are cards we've received, including Santa letters, and the kids Advent calenders although they all didn't fit in the picture, sorry D!

MY tree and all the stockings, me and Big Daddy plus 4 kids plus 4 dogs plus 4 cats. Do you see a pattern maybe??

The kids tree with a few packages showing. I discovered today they literally stuck all the wrapped presents up the tree's booboo practically for what reason I have no idea! But anything is to be expected around here. We'll have a busy day tomorrow, Big Daddy is off and we'll be out and about so Happy Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
Oh my news, I just finished it....... Twilight....... I'm going to Books A Million tomorrow...... 2nd book. And no, the movie didn't capture the spirit at all but I still enjoyed it and now am ready to see it again. And why didn't anyone warn me about the raw..uh... hunger.... that evokes throughout. I feel that ...uh... need?.... all over, and sure do wish I could go in and wake up big daddy right now for some...uh....fulfillment, even though he did get up at 4 this morning for work!! Not fair, sigh, guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Oh yeah, HAPPY, FUN, Christmas eve for me!!

Big Daddy's Contribution

Yep, you guessed it. Big Daddy's contribution to Christmas Decorating. As you can tell, he loves Charlie Brown and really LOVES "Christmas Story". I'll never forget the first time I watched it with him................... ok, wish I could. I never have "gotten" it like he has. And he has trained all the kids to love it too. In fact, it is watched year round at this house, just not by me! Oh and that little addition on the right... Dora... gosh wonder how that got there, Girl!!

From The Back Seat

C and W were in the very back of the van on the way home from church today. D and the Girl were in the middle. C and W started fighting over a matchbox car W had found in the reception hall at church. Big daddy was irritated, told (demanded) them to stop and then prcoeeded to ask C why he kept putting his hand down his pants during church. C promptly told him "My Winkie was broken and I was trying to fix it." I heard D snickering from the seat in back of me. I put my hand over my mouth and was looking out my window. After a long minute, I looked at big daddy and he finally said "Well, did you get it fixed?" The answer from the back seat "Oh yes sir". That C, he's so polite!

I'm Taking A Breath!!

OK I've been a little busy lately so I am taking this weekend to just breathe.........
I've been blessed with a few rewards recently and this is the first chance of getting my act together and so I am shouting it out right now!!

This one was given to me first by Amy B. from Our Daily Blessing ...Life The instructions are as follows:

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
Now the funny part is when I made my list of bloggers I wanted to send it to , Sandy at The Adams Family was on it but the next day poof.. Sandy had already gotten it from someone else and awarded it to me before I could award it to her!!!

Isn't she pretty!!! She is my first!!! So now here are my eight I am passing my award to:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to "THE" award!! I received this from Heather at "This is the day..." Ps118:24
And oh my.... I have so enjoyed just staring at it!! And so here are some of my special friends who I know will enjoy staring as much as I have!! And anyone else that would like it also, jump on it for yourself, I don't mind!!

And last but not least, the two that got me hooked:

Angie of Angie's Spot and Shannon of Welcome to The Nut House!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now my brand-spankin-new award from my buddy Sandy at The Adams Family
This is what she said:

The Lemonade Award
This award comes with a few rules and here they are:
Put the logo on your blog or post. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show GREAT ATTITUDE and/or GRATITUDE! Be sure to link to your nominees within your post. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.
Thanks Sandy for thinking of me!! And here are my 10:

And so it goes with my awards and yes, you will see them on my sidebar for all eternity.
Ladies Enjoy!!

Friday Focus Foto-Amy B. Day

This is Amy B. from Our Daily Blessing...Life And this is HER day!

You have been kind enough to read my posts about her, and for her. This week I have done something I have never done before and I so pray I did it well. I have been involved with a project to give encouragement and support via cards, letters, any kind of mail for Amy. I want to thank each of you who has read my post and gotten the address for Amy. I want to thank those who have prayed for Amy. And I want to thank those of you who have helped me personally get the word out: Tara at Kidz and Tiffany at The Secret Is In The Sauce, I could not have done any of this without you! Please go check out both of their posts! And thanks to all of you that have taken it upon yourself to help get the word out about Amy and her family. I truly know she will soooooo appreciate your support for her and her family at this time! And I appreciate it also!! If you have not read Amy's story, here is the link for her blog.

Thank you Candid Carrie for hosting Friday Foto Finish and all her friends who are visiting!

THURSDAY - GET THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

My freind Tara over at TMI and KIDZ is having an Operation Christmas Card. She has featured 3 ladies who all can use the support of us here in bloggyland and Tara has the way to do it!

One of the women she featured is my friend Amy B. And I am so grateful to Tara for helping!

She also has posted a few ideas of just how we all can help each other. It doesn't have to always be about bigger and better, so many times in life, it's the little things that count. You can just go about all your errands and Smile at everyone you come in contact with. There are so many people who never get a smile and can be so uplifted by that small simple gesture. I'm always reminded of how "small" matters because my daughter refers to herself as a "small" girl, but even the smallest can have the greatest impact, she shows us that daily! So please visit my friend Tara at KIDZ today for OPERATION CHRISTMAS CARD and capture some of that Christmas Spirit!

Cards For Amy B.

For Amy B....
A lot of you remember my post about
AmyB. This is an amazing woman with a sick son who is now sick herself. She had surgery last week on 2 masses on her neck and the report is they are cancer. Her surgery was very extensive and will take months of recovery. My heart breaks for her yet at the same time I am in total awe of her and her strength. If you don't know her, please take some time to read about her...and her son, Philip....and her family. Another bloggy friend Ang, posted this about her today:

I received this e-mail this morning.....
Angie,I have noticed that you follow Amy's blog (Our Daily Blessing - Life). Some of her good friends from other areas of the internet thought it might be nice for her to get cards and notes via snail-mail. I am not a blogger and am unsure how I would go about contacting some of you that are very diligent at reading and commenting on her blog.Would you be able to help spread the word or would you know a way toget the word out? As we can't comment on her blog... well, we could but then we'd be at the whim of when Jim accepts the comments...I know how much she values her new blogger friends, it helps boost herspirits. Anyone that would want to do this could send me an email andI can provide her address. Thanks,Grace (aka Slick)

So, I wrote Grace back and told her that I thought this was a wonderful idea, that I would blog about it, and how I wished I knew Amy in person. She wrote back with these beautiful words about Amy....

Angie... It's amazing how wonderful a person she is. I met her througha diet forum.. and we live less than 50 miles away. God brought ustogether as friends and we quickly grew into best friends. I can'teven imagine walking a mile in her shoes... before her own issueseven. It is a hard situation that she is going through. She is toughand a bull dog... she just needs to get her toughness back right now.Our way we respond to our situations and our attitude about our livescolor how we handle things. She is going to fight this with fullforce... she just needs a little boost to start the journey.Thank you again for the wonderful support that you give her. I knowshe and the family value it more than you can ever imagine!- Grace

So, if you would like to send this incredible woman a card or sentiment of any kind, please e-mail Grace at iamslickchick@yahoo.com She will send you Amy's physical address.
On a last note....Grace said this....
And another thought... if any of them ... the other family bloggers... want to post about it too... to spread the wealth around.. thatwould be great... I just don't have enough hours in the day to go blogreading much... so I might never know if someone else besides you everblogged about it. So... if anyone else wants to do it... perhaps they could zap me a fast email telling me they are doing it too?

For anyone that can, please help us in bringing Amy B so much needed love and hugs via snail mail, so she will have something to see while she is recovering and then after treatment starts. Even if you just add her to your Christmas card list. And please post a link about this on your own blog so we can get the word spread wide and far!!

And please keep Amy and her family in your prayers. When you get a little extra bloggy time, go visit her blog and read about what an extraordinary woman she is.
Love you Amy!

It's Here!! A Christmas In Bloggyland Tour

Welcome to my Christmas Tour. As you can tell, our trees are a bit of hodge-podge but lots of fun and very festive. I actually think the kids have a contest to see how many ornaments they can load on without breaking limbs! The picture of the tree with the stockings is actually the "Parent" tree. And the stockings are for kids and pets, that's why there are so many!! Hope you enjoyed my Christmas Time, and to join in the rest of the Tour visit Muse Swings for all the other Tour Guides!

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

I WAS DELIGHTED TO FIND LAST NIGHT THAT "ON DEMAND" HAD PUT THIS MOVIE BACK ON. IT IS THE 1973 VERSION THAT I SAW IN THE THEATRE YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS A KID. IT HAD A PROFOUND IMPACT ON ME. PROBABLY BECAUSE IT WAS A ROCK-OPERA, THE FIRST OF IT'S KIND THAT I HAD SEEN. LOVED IT, AND LOVE IT TO THIS DAY. FOR ME, AS AN UNHAPPY, QUESTIONING, IN THE CHURCH YOUTH GROUP, ALMOST TEENAGER, IT REALLY BOUGHT THE STORY OF THE RESURRECTION TO LIFE. IT SHOWED AN EMOTIONAL JESUS, DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE THAT I HAD BEEN TAUGHT WHO WAS AN ALMOST MYSTICAL MAN. IT SHOWS JESUS LAUGHING, CELEBRATING, ANGRY BEYOND BELIEF AND QUESTIONING, JUST AS I HAD BEEN. BUT IT ALSO SHOWS HIM AS FOLLOWING GOD TO THE MAX, WHICH IS WHAT I STRIVE TO DO. LAST MAY, I HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO SEE "JCS" AT ONE OF OUR THEATRE'S. TED NEELY WHO STARRED AS JESUS IN THE FILM, WAS TOURING AS JESUS IN THE STAGE PRODUCTION. AND YA KNOW, IT WAS LIKE I WAS TRANSPORTED BACK IN TIME TO THOSE SAME EMOTIONS, THE DELIGHT, THE JOY AND THE LIGHT BULB OF UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT REALLY MEANT FOR MANKIND, FOR JESUS TO BE ON THAT CROSS. AND NOW AS WE CELEBRATE HIS BIRTH, I ALSO CELEBRATE A FILM THAT BROUGHT IT ALL HOME FOR ME! THANK YOU, "JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR"

Why, Why, Why!!

Welcome to my first installment of WHY Wednesday????? A tantalizing program of all the advice you need for all those many WHY questions, that you were afraid to ask!!

OK here goes. Little background, we homeschool so therefore I am at home with kids everyday, for school. I taxi to classes and rehearsals, church etc. If I ask the 14 and 12 year old to do something for me ie: unload the dishwasher (their chore) load the dishwasher, pick up the living room, take out the garbage etc. Now all these items are part of their chores. THEY IGNORE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But when Big Daddy comes home for lunch or after work, he will ask them to do the exact thing I've been waiting on and THEY DO IT!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
So now WHY do they do that??????????????????????????

Remember, you answer mine and I'll answer your's . Even if you don't have the answer a bloggy "I understand" will help also!!!

WHY WEDNESDAY

WHY? That is such a powerful word when you think about it. Cause there are so many answers!

Tomorrow is Wednesday. I have many, many WHY questions rolling around in my head. So on Wednesdays, I will post a WHY WEDNESDAY question. Just ONE question, but one that has really been bugging me. Join me, check mine out and I'll check your's out. This way we can all get different answers to our WHY questions and we don't even have to pay for the psychological services!! And I would much rather find out the answers from ya'll then to let the question just continually bug the hmhm.. out of me! So don't forget WHY WEDNESDAY, one question, many answers!!

Santa Memory

Long ago and far away when my 2 oldest boys, D & W, were in fact the only 2 kids we had, I loved to listen to their conversations. Nowdays, there is too much yelling and not enough conversation to listen to!
But, we were riding down the road and the boys were in the back seat and were probably around 5 and 3 at the time. The subject came up of where does Santa start to deliver his presents. D said the other side of the world because of the time it takes to deliver. W said our house. I stiffled laughter. D said " No W, it's over on the other side" W right back "No he starts at our house" Well, this went on back and forth a few more times and of course D is getting frustrated and W just dug his heels in further. Finally D asked " How do you know Santa starts at our house?"
W said (very smuggly) " Because God told him to". D didn't say another word and of course I once again, stiffled laughter!!
