My First Experience

Friday I took the Girl to the doctor since she had been throwing up once a day since Mon and had a low fever the past 3 afternoons. I wanted to be sure it wasn't serious before the weekend. Girl is amazing at the doctor. Walked first in line behind the nurse with her entourage of mom and 3 brothers following. She went up to nurse A in the room in case she wanted to examine her. Then when Doc C came in she climbed on the table and laughed at everything Doc C did to her. Well, Girl will be 3 in Dec and NOT potty trained. Doc C ruled ears, etc. out so she wanted Girl to peepee in a cup to check for a bladder infection. Now I've never been through this with the boys, meaning bladder infection. For them, peepeeing in a cup was a game whether they were potty trained or not, kinda like boys peeing outside, so never had a problem getting a specimen from them. The Girl is another story. I told Doc C this would not be fun, but of course Girl is telling her she can do it. We go to the potty room and I pull her diaper off and it's very warm! She probably went while we were discussing it. She tried to no avail. We got back to the room and Doc C said the lab would be in to put a BAG on her and for us to go shop, eat, whatever and when she went in the bag, Doc C would give me a cup to pour it in and bring back. A BAG!! So the lab came in and put this plastic baggie looking thing on Girl while Girl was screaming and fighting. It stuck to her so the peepee has no where to go but in it. I could tell the tech had not had much experience with screaming memes, luckily I had. When Doc C came in to check the screaming and give me a cup, I of course asked her which boy this reminded her of! She laughed and I said just wait, Girl will remember this!!

So off we went shopping, eating and of course she's complaining it hurts and no, she hasn't peepeeed. Well, I finally had to go so we ran in Target. I went into the stall and took Girl with me to check her. When I pull her diaper off while she's yelling "NO", luckily no one else was in there, I saw TT in the baggie, FINALLY!! So I had to pull that lovely baggie off her while she's yelling and pulling my hand and yes, you guessed it, it SPILLS ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, there was still a smidgen in the bag after I finally got it safely away from Girl. So I carefully poured the 1 tsp in the cup and lidded it. Then I proceeded to wipe up the floor. I grabbed Girl, washed us both, went flying through the store and safely deposited the cup back at the doctors.

By the time I got home, the nurse called and said it was FINE!!! No problem!!! Probably a virus!!! Call if she gets worse!!! Yeah, Thanks!!! I did tell nurse A about Target just so she could have a good laugh for the day! I hope this is my first and last experience with the BAG!!!

I've never even heard of that kind of thing before... Doesn't sound like ANY kind of fun with an almost 3-year-old

Oh my goodness! I only have boys, but that does not sound like a good idea!

I can't say I blame the girl. I sure would be throwing a fit about the BAG. Glad she didn't have an infection! Thanks for all your good stocking stuffer ideas! Definitely a big help!

Poor Thing!!! That virus is terrible! I think mine had it from September to October, it just doesn't want to go away. They'd throw up every day and 1/2 for over a week! I'm glad my husband and I and our oldest didn't get it!

Wow, what an ordeal! I hope she feels better soon!

As for being 3 and not potty trained, I hope you aren't sweating it or letting ANYONE make you feel bad/guilty/etc. My Bella is four now and while she's good 95% of the time she still has accidents and sleeps with a pullup. For some reason it took her way, way longer than my first two. It is what it is and there's nothing you can do about it.

Hang in there!!

Oh geez!!!! I've never heard of the bag - I had many of these as a child and had to pee in a cup, so I can sympathize - but a bag?

Oh my...yes I had the bag once with my older daughter years ago. To see if she had a bladder infection. You are right, it is SOO not fun. (Although it was Funny, while happening to you;)

OMG, that's nuts! It also sounds like an experience I would have with Little A if the occasion were ever to arise. I'm hoping that's not the case.
